Onboarding

Six-step church setup wizard

After registration, every tenant lands in /onboarding/church-setup—a guided wizard that configures profile, branches, leadership, finance, and preferences before the dashboard opens. Progress saves automatically; platform admins can see completion from General Office.

  • Resume where you left off—busy pastors don't lose work
  • Skip optional steps and finish in Settings later
  • Package features gate modules (SMS, accounting, online giving)

Guided 6-step wizard — resume anytime, skip optional steps

  1. Step 1

    Church profile

Logo, contact, location, and public-facing church identity—so every module uses the right name and timezone context.

    • Church name, email, phone, website
    • Country, city, and address
    • Logo upload for workspace branding
  2. Step 2

    Branch setup

Main campus plus additional branches with service days and times—attendance, finance, and reports stay scoped correctly.

    • Primary branch and optional campuses
    • Service days and service times
    • Branch contact for localized ops
  3. Step 3

    Leadership

Pastors, treasurers, and key leaders on record before you assign roles—so permissions map to real people.

    • Leader name, role, email, phone
    • Foundation for role assignment in admin
    • Visible in church profile and reports
  4. Step 4

    Finance

Currency, financial year, giving categories, and default funds—treasurers start with sensible defaults, not a blank ledger.

    • Local currency (GHS, USD, NGN, etc.)
    • Financial year start month
    • Tithe, offering, and custom categories
  5. Step 5

    Preferences

Toggle modules your plan includes: children check-in, accounting depth, SMS, and email notifications.

    • Member ID prefix for your church
    • Enable check-in, accounting, SMS
    • Aligned to your subscription package
  6. Step 6

    Review & launch

Confirm everything in one screen, complete onboarding, and land on the dashboard—no dead ends.

    • Summary of profile, branches, finance
    • One click to go live
    • Resume wizard anytime until complete

Your first week on the dashboard

Onboarding configures the foundation. These are the wins most churches hit in days 1–7.

  • 1

    Import or add members

Bulk import or manual entry. Households, Member IDs, and visitor records from day one.

  • 2

    First Sunday check-in

Create a service event, check in members and visitors, and see live counts on the dashboard.

  • 3

    Record giving

Tithes and offerings against funds. Enable online giving and Zelle when your plan includes it.

  • 4

    Send your first SMS

Purchase SMS credits, request a sender ID, and message a targeted audience with delivery logs.

  • 5

    Share a report

Leadership sees KPIs on the dashboard; export membership or giving for council when needed.

Common questions

How long does onboarding take?
Most churches complete the six-step wizard in 20–40 minutes. You can save progress and return—the dashboard unlocks fully when you hit Review & Launch.
Can we skip steps?
Optional steps can be skipped and finished later from Settings. Required profile and branch data keeps your workspace coherent.
What happens after I pay at checkout?
You receive payment confirmation, then register linking your payment. After verification (if enabled), you enter the same church setup wizard as trial users.
Do we need IT to go live?
No separate install. ChurchDek is browser-based. Admins configure gateways and SMS in settings; we guide demo customers through finance and permissions.
